Foxtel Go like many streaming services around the world is blocked when you’re not in Australia which is pretty unfair and finding the Best VPN for Foxtel Go to watch outside Australia can be time consuming.

If you’re like me then I’ve never understood why when you pay for a premium service why you can’t take that with you wherever you are in the world. After all, you’re paying for it with your Australian billing details so what does it matter if you go on holiday or travelling for a while?

Even if you’re an expat or away for a longer period of time then if you’re still paying for the service back at home in Australia then it doesn’t really make sense why you shouldn’t be able to access your Foxtel content overseas.

If you want to access Foxtel Go while you’re outside of Australia then a VPN is the ideal solution and will let you watch all your favourite content regardless of where you are in the world.

Not all VPN providers are suitable for Foxtel Go so I’ve been testing some of the leading services to find out which ones work and what is the best VPN for Foxtel Go.

1. IPVanish

IPVanish Small Logo

To watch Foxtel Go it’s important to look for a VPN provider that offers servers in Australia as not all do. IPVanish is the best VPN for Foxtel Go.

IPVanish is one provider who offers plenty of Australian servers which is critical if you want to watch Foxtel Go overseas.

Although it hasn’t happened yet with Foxtel, streaming services often block VPN providers to stop you circumventing the restrictions. A provider with a single Australian server could be blocked easily but IPVanish has over 31 Australian servers meaning you’ve got plenty of choices.

With 29 servers located in Sydney and 2 in Melbourne, you can easily connect from anywhere in the world and watch Foxtel Go as if you were in Australia itself.

Having so many Australian servers is great for Foxtel Go because it means if a server is being heavily used by other users you can simply connect to a one of the lesser utilised servers and get a better streaming experience.

IPVanish is suitable for streaming in all qualities so as long as you have a reliable local internet connection you’ll be able to access high quality streams from Foxtel Go.

IPVanish have easy to use PC and Mac software which I’ve tested and work fine with the Foxtel Go service but they also have Android and iOS apps too so should be suitable for streaming to your tablet or phone too.

A monthly package is US$10 per month but can be as low as US$6.49 a month if you take an annual package which is great value for money and competitive with other options.

2. Overplay

Overplay Small Logo

Overplay make a good choice for streaming Foxtel Go overseas.

Like the other services, they offer servers in Australia although they don’t specify in which locations. The good news is they do have 29 servers in Australia which means using them for Foxtel Go will have you well catered for.

Overplay has software for both Windows PC and Mac and recently released apps for Android and iOS. This means you can use the service to watch Foxtel Go on your desktop and laptop and with the release of the apps also on your tablet and mobile too.

Overplay does have the bonus of their SmartDNS service which allows you to stream content with no speed loss, although you do lose the privacy protection a VPN can enable. Although there are set-up guides on their website it isn’t the easiest to use for beginners but if you’re happy to tinker about and can follow a guide then it may be worth a look.

The SmartDNS system is best suited if you’re very far from Australia or you have a poor location internet speed.

3. ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN Small Logo

ExpressVPN is another good provider that offers Australia VPN servers which are critical for watching Foxtel Go overseas.

They don’t specify exactly how many servers they have in Australia but they are better than most providers as they offer two locations both in Sydney and Melbourne.

Although there isn’t a huge difference in terms of distance from either city to other countries it does give you the option to play around and find out which server offers the better speeds meaning you can stream in a higher quality.

I found that Sydney was preferable but if it seems slow or you want a lesser utilised server for Foxtel Go then Melbourne is also an option.

ExpressVPN is a little more expensive than IPVanish at US$12.95 a month or US$8.32 p/m when taking an annual package. Head to head I’m inclined to choose the IPVanish service because it offers the same or more and costs less.

However, ExpressVPN does offer a lengthy 30-day money back guarantee which lets you test the service over a good period length to see if it’s suitable for your location and needs. Then again IPVanish does offer a 7-day money back guarantee so it all depends on your own personal preference.

Software and apps are available for all major devices including Windows, Mac, Android and Linux so whatever device you’re using outside Australia you’ll be able to stream Foxtel Go without an issue.

4. VyprVPN

VyprVPN Small Logo

VyprVPN is a great choice for a VPN for Foxtel Go because of their Australian support.

Like IPVanish and ExpressVPN they have servers in Sydney and Melbourne but they also have the addition of a west coast VPN server in Perth.

The Perth server adds a new dimension to the service and you may find you get preferable speeds on the Perth VPN server in locations such as Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore so it’s worth playing around with the offerings.

Best VPN for Foxtel Go

Watch Foxtel Go anywhere in the world.

One of my favourite features of the VyprVPN service is they offer a 3-day trial. You need to enter your billing details and if you want to keep the service you don’t need to do anything else. If you find it isn’t suitable for streaming Foxtel Go or your other needs then you can simply cancel before the 3 days elapse and you won’t be charged a cent.

VyprVPN on a whole are slightly slower than both IPVanish and ExpressVPN so if you’re aiming for top speeds then you may be a little disappointed. While you shouldn’t have any trouble streaming shows or movies for Foxtel Go you may not always get the top quality.

However, mileage may vary so it’s worth checking out their 3-day trial to see how you get on.

5. VPN.ac

VPN.ac Small Logo

VPN.ac is a smaller VPN provider and one you’ve probably not heard of but it’s worth not overlooking them.

They don’t support iOS via an app so you’ll need to look at one of the first three providers if you’re hoping to use Foxtel Go on an iPhone or iPad but what they lack in an iOS app they make up for in other areas.

Servers are available in both Sydney and Melbourne giving you plenty of choices when it comes to watching Foxtel Go overseas. In my tests I didn’t find them quite as fast as IPVanish and suffered a little bit of buffering every now and again although not enough to ruin my enjoyment.

On a monthly basis they’re about the same price as the competition at US$9 p/m but if you opt for an annual package then they’re as low as US$4.80 a month which is one of the reasons I’ve included them here.

If you’re outside Australia for much of the year you can make a big saving here although remember you may have a better experience with IPVanish who are only a couple of dollars more expensive per month.

That said if you want to watch on Windows, Mac or Android they’re worth checking out.

Conclusion: Best VPN for Foxtel Go

Without a doubt the best VPN for Foxtel Go is IPVanish and certainly my favourite.

Their prices are competitive with most other available services and actually cheaper than some. For me the speed of their servers really stood out and unlike some other options I didn’t experience any buffering or stuttering which for watching Foxtel Go overseas is really going to be your main concern.

All 5 providers make good choices and there isn’t too much between them apart from a few feature differences here and there. They’re all suitable for watching Foxtel Go outside Australia so it’s worth taking a look at each individual site to see which you prefer.

If you’re time limited or confused then I recommend signing up to IPVanish but regardless of which provider you choose you won’t be disappointed with the available 5 options.

Don’t forget you’ll also be able to use the one VPN service to access other Aussie services such as TenPlay, SBS, ABC and more and also services from other countries like BBC iPlayer from the UK amongst others.
